Dear Friends of Mm Foundation,
Again it is with great pleasure that I announce my return form Umuahia, Nigeria from the Foundation Laying Stone of The Mmaraihe Memorial Foundation, a project of The Mm Foundation, a Foundation for the needy and underprivileged in memory of my late mother (MMARAIHE) who gave selflessly to humankind. The Mm Foundation is beginning with our home villages of Umuanya and Ehume in Umuahia, Nigeria.
Once again it was a huge success, a huge crowd and a humbling experience. Lots of needy people, children and adults alike; droopy faces, teary eyes... but the Foundation in its own little way as usual gave hope to the people that day, their hope was even increased after the 1st Inauguration ceremony. It was a fun-filled day, an exciting day and an epoch-making day. Lots of people gave tributes to the life of Mmaraihe again and the joy it brought them that a hospital was going to be built as a legacy after her. There was a free medical health fair with our committed volunteer nurses, doctors and counselors checking up the patients. We also provided free blood pressure and blood sugar screening. Medication was given to those who needed it. There was a long line of those who needed medication, and thank God the Foundation met some of their need for that day, believing God to be able to do more in the future. There was also lots of food to eat; everybody went home with a pack of cooked food.
The climax of the event that even brought tear to my eyes was the procession to hospital site to lay the foundation as well as the actual laying of the stone.
The scholarship scheme was also pronounced for 3 qualified first year students to 3 different secondary schools. One of them Mmaraihe attended during her lifetime, when it was just a Domestic Science Center.
